A message from Wino (Spirit Caravan):
Due to professional and personal reasons, I disbanded Spirit Caravan in May. I have decided to now team up with my long-time friend Victor Griffin, and join his current band Place of Skulls. A heavy, two-guitar outfit will be fresh and exciting for both of us. I have enjoyed and respected Victor's talent and music for many years, so it seems a logical step forward. I want to personally thank everyone who has supported my musical endeavors over the years, and I invite you to explore, and hopefully enjoy, this new dimension
A word from the Lord: ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!? I can't sufficiently express how incredible this news is! THE TWO most incredible doom-metal guitar players in one band? UNBELIEVABLE! We will bring you the results of this incredible union AS SOON AS WE CAN!! Stay tuned for more info and hopefully downloads!!! LET THERE BE DOOM!!!
We are extremely excited to announce the signing of: Place Of Skulls. Place of Skulls (from Tennessee) is the new creation from Death Row founder & ex-Pentagram guitarist/songwriter Victor Griffin. Victor has reunited with original Death Row bassist Lee Abney. Recruiting a hard hitting drummer in Tim Tomaselli, Place of Skulls was officially formed in the spring of 2000. Place of Skulls sound is heavy, spiritual, soulful, and doom laden. Listeners will be reminded of Pentagram due to the very charismatic stylings of Victors' playing. Other reference points are: Trouble, and Spirit Caravan. The bottom line on this band is: THEY ARE CLASSIC AND DESTINED TO SET A NEW STANDARD IN THE HEAVY MUSIC SCENE.
Originally, POS recorded a album for Mans Ruin. After the demise of that label, Southern Lord jumped at the chance to work with Victor and his new incarnation. The new album entitled "Nailed", is available now! To get a taste, listen to mp3s of the band at their site: www.place of skulls.com. The first official release from Place of Skulls, which is a limited edition 7" on Southern Lord, is unfortunately sold out.
